Samsung Fiberoptics, First Exports Commercial Enhanced - Bend Insensitive Fiber (E-BIF) Product!
Received $11 Mil. Order from Oversea Fiber Optic Communication Projects from Mexico and Syria!
• Selected as provider of FTTH project by Axtel, Mexico,
• Signed Backbone Network Fiber Optic Cable Supply Agreement with STE, Syria
Samsung Fiberoptics (Representative: Geun-myeon Lee) recently expressed that it will supply the Enhanced - Bend Insensitive Fiber (E-BIF) with high strength characteristics developed and succeeded in mass production first on last September to a wired communication provider in Mexico.
Samsung Fiberoptics has been selected as a supplier of the FTTH project by one wired communication provider in Mexico, Axtel and will supply the fiber optic cables and FTTH from the 2nd quarter. Especially, Samsung Fiberoptics, with this order, puts the first step to first mass-produce and supply the fiber optic cables (Product Name: ULTRA BENDFREE) containing ‘high strength wide band optical fiber with free bending,’ i.e. Enhanced - Bend Insensitive Fiber (E-BIF) developed on last September in a large scale order (about 3,000km).
Even though the world leading optical fiber manufacturers have been trying to develop the optical fibers with such characteristics till now, the developed products have reinforced bending characteristics, but they have some disadvantages such as high loss, limited transmission band, difficult splice between optical fibers or weak durability. However, Samsung Fiberoptics has solved all of these problems through new production method, developed the Enhanced - Bend Insensitive Fiber (E-BIF) with high strength wide band characteristics first in the world and achieved the inspiring deed to export them oversea first. It is projected that Samsung’s Enhanced - Bend Insensitive Fiber (E-BIF) equipped with superior quality characteristics and performance will emerge as the core product of FTTH market with fast expansion in the future.
In addition, on the 1st of this month, Samsung Fiberoptics expressed that it has participated into the Backbone Network project of the largest wired communication provider in Syria, STE (Syrian Telecom East), and signed fiber optic cable supply agreement with them. Samsung Fiberoptics has been recognized for its comprehensive competitiveness in this project among keen competition with about 10 leading companies in the world from Europe, Asia, etc. and succeeded to receive the order. It is expected that Samsung will acquire the market position at No. 1 M/S in Syrian market for constant growth in the future.
Representative director of Samsung Fiberoptics, Geun-myeon Lee said, “With the opportunity to receive a series of order awards from the oversea markets at the beginning of 2010, we will leap forward to the leading company in the fiber communication industry called as dream communication in the 21st century by aggressively entering into the oversea fiber optic communication in the future.”
